I saw tenor saxist Julieta Eugenio a couple years ago in concert and was impressed by her Ben Webster of a tone. It’s displayed well here with core team of Jonathan Barber/dr and Matt Dwonszyk/b and guest Leo Genovese/key. Eugenio blows subtoned embers on “Sophisticated Lady” and a moody “Stay” . With Geonvse, she sifts on the sands of “B reath I” and wafts through “Breath II” while getting into mellotones with Dwonszyk for “Out There”. This lady has palpable ideas, mostly in charcoal colors.
