Comprised of Joy Maniscalco-Pratt/voc, Randy Pratt/b-harm, Patrick Klein/g-voc and Phil Weiss/dr, the band Joyous (along with some guests) come across like they drank deeply from the waters of 1970s-80s bands like the Pretenders. Vocalist Joy Maniscalco-Pratt has a Chrissie Hyde kind of earthy delivery, with some punky feel on “Stuyvesant Town” and the upbeat chiming of “Luxury”. There’s a big 80s synthy pop feel on “Electric Kiss” and soulful guitar wok on “Midtown Afternoon” by Paul Latimer” Scott Treibitz adds rich keyboards on the catchy “Grabbing My Attention” and “Electric Kiss” with the album feeling like they are looking back before looking forward.
