Eric Bibb: Live at the Scala Theatre Stockholm

Bluesmaster Eric Bibb has never released an album that his less than stellar, and as he gets older, his voice is slowly turning into the embodiment of rural folk blues. He mixes American folk from the Cumberland gap in a delicious way with Christer Lyssarides/slg-g, Johan Lindstrompst/g, Glen Scott/b, Olle Linder/dr, Greger Andersson/harm, Esbjorn Hazelis/fid, Chrisopher Ohmanva and Josef Ahlin/cel and others in mix and match fashion. There’s a natural relaxed feel from Bibb on pieces like “Rose Wood” and a calm picking and grinning for “Silver Spoon” and the back porched “River Bluesy”. He tells dreamy stories as on “500 Miles” and gives a spiritual walk to his own home spun “Along The Way” even taking a side trip to Chicago with a gritty “Whole Worlds’ Got The Blues” A dash of West Africa goes to the roots of Bibb’s roots with some kora b Lamie Cissoko on the Sahel toned “Bring M Little Wate, Sylvie” with a campfire feel closing things up on “Mole In The Ground”. The heart of America’s soul.
