Music from famed composer Ennio Morricone is cleverly interpreted by harmonica player Gregoire Maret and pianist Romain Collin. They’ve been together previously with guitarist Bill Frisell, but this one is a treat with the extra spaciousness, with subtle support from Marcus Gilmore/dr, Burniss Earl Travis/g, Marvin Sewell/g and Alexandra Soppp/fl,perfectly suited for the likes of Morricone’s atmospheres. There’s pl enty of rich panoramas as on “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” and some old world accordion like sound on the pastoral “Once Upon A Time In America”. A rich rural folk feel wafts around, with rich vocals by Cassandra Wilson and Gregory P orter on “Se Telefono”, making you beg for an entire album like this. Wondrous soundscapes.
