Crooners: Bob Anderson: Live!, Jack Wood: The Gal That Got Away

Men at work…

Vocalist Bob Anderson is a throwback to the world of smoky nightclugs on this recent release. He’s backed by Vince Falcone/p and Joe Lano along with an  orchestra, mixing up various sstandards with the pen of  Victor Harris and his own work, such as the hp “So Much Music In Me”. With strings, he gives arias to “Come Rain Or Come Shine” and “Some Other Time” wh ile the lush “I Still Miss You” is open and vulnerable. Pagliacci with jazz.

Late night crooner Jack Wood puts together a collection that sounds right off the  Nelson Riddle Capitol days on this Rat Packish album. He teams with Nichaud Fitzgobbon on a hep  “It’s Crazy” and the two get languid on “After Hours”. A fun “London Bridge” gives intro to a cozy “A Foggy Day” and  the saxes wail on the  lounge  lizard “The Gal That Got Away”. Songs for loving swingers.
