The Italian progressive rock/fusion group Syndone puts together a 12 song anthology, essentially an introduction for most of us plugged in fans. The core team of Nik Comoglio/key, Riccardo Ruggeri/voc, Marta Caldara-perc-key, Gigi Rivetti/p-key, Simone Rubinato/b and Ciro Iavarone/dr specializes in dramatic and hard hitting originals. Sounding at times like Deep Purple or Queen with Robert Plant on the vocals, the band has Ruggeri wailing on the hard hitting “”The End Of My Love” with Iavorone hitting hard on the aria “Fight Club”. There’s some lovely acoustic guitar by guest Pino Russo on “Rene” and some sky opening choir on “So Long Everybody”. There’s even a dash of pop on the kinetic “Thousand Times I Cried” and thrilling organ work by Comoglio on the white knuckler “The Angel”. “La commedia e finite!”
