Bassist and leader Nikos Chatzitsakos brings together a swinging unit that focuses on rich charts and melodic solos. Half of the tunes have vocals, with Alexandreia Dewalt “Expressive around the warm horns on ‘Get Out Of Town” and bopping like Blossom Dearie on “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was”. Eleni Ermina Sofou chimes in on a whimsical “Where Or When” and moody “Windmills Of Your Mind” with Willie Williams on the keyboards. Robert Mac Vega Dowda’s cornet gets bright on a Coltrane-ish “All Or Nothing At All” and Salim Charvet’s alto is breezy on the fluffy “Fly Little Bird Fly”. Easy on the ears.
