Emile Parisien Quartet: Let Them Cook

Soprano saxist Emile Parisien brings together his team of Julien Touery/p, Ivan Gelugne/b and Julien Loutelier/dr-el for an album of in house originals. Most of the tunes are focused on creating atmospheres, with the leader using mouthpiece effects to haunting results on “Pralin” or the sighing reed groans around Gelugne on the grooving “Tik Tik”. Some Asian harmonies are felt as Parisien is emphysemic on “Mars” while he cries throughout “Nano Fromage”. The team bops the most on the swinging “Wine Time part 1” and trudges through the muck on  “Pistache Cowboy”. Some 80s synth pulses simmer on “VE 1999” and the band scrambles around like loose marbles during the fragmented “Coconut Race”. What Neftflix series  is this the sound track to?
