Vocalist Judy Whitmore revisits the idea originated by Frank Sinatra in singing about various parts of the world. She’s teamed up with pianist Josh Nelson and jazzers Bob Sheppard/sax, Andy M artin/tb, Hendrik Meurkens/harm and Jacob Scesney/ts as well as a string orchestra fronted by Chris Waldmen. Most of the songs have Whitmore surrounded by wondrous strings as on the pretty “Georgia On My Mind” and the lumionous “Moonlight In Vermont” . Sometimes Nelson joins in with the strings as on “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square” and “On An Evening In Roma”, with Meurkens’ harmonica adding some Brazilian to the samba-ish “April In Paris”. Light and fragrant.
