Baritone saxist Josh Sinton goes solo in a tribute to hero Steve Lacy (and others) on this double album. The discs are evenly divided by personality, with the first beig 15 free and loose improvisations, with lots of harmonics as on “Scar” to laconic leaps during “Scission” as well as plunges into subtones and altissimo. The second disc is more cogent and melodic, with all of the songs beginning with the letter “W”, as “Whoosh” is a rich blues, “Waterline” is a Mingusy aria” and “Wrinkels” a glorious texture of tones. Personal and penetrating.
