Romania-based pianist Antonio Gavrila creates an album of Argentina’s Nuevo Tango, mixing his own originals with interpretations of master Astor Piazzola on this thrilling album. He’s joined by Walther Castro/bandoneon, Quique Sinesi/g and Horacio Hurtado/b for a recording focusing on four part “Tango Suite Buenos Aires”, featuring the composer’s romantic side on “I Tristeza”, exciting drama for “Nuevos Tiempos” and Hurtado getting the focus on “Nostalgico” before Sinesi and Gavrila converse like long time friends. Piazzolla’s own “Michelangelo 70” is filled with flare while “Amor Sin Palabras” is graceful and lyrical. A stroll down a Latin Quarter.
