Bassist Jasper Hoiby’s 3 Elements band brings together Noah Stoneman/p and Luca Caruso/b for a mix of intuitive trio works and some solo forays. The songs divide into quick vignets of 1-2 minutes or complete pieces in the 5-7 minute range. Of the former, “Liquid Moment” as some dark rumbling of the three, whereas “Ruminating” is a solo piano impression. Hoiby bops with the team on a rapidrun of “Virtual Check” and the team plays peek-a-boo on “Undaunted”. The longer tunes have a dreamy blue atmosphere that floats on “Never Forgotten”, with Hoiby leading into the line with Stoneman on “Earthness”. Thoughtful flicks of the wrist.
