Ada Rovatti: The Hidden World of Piloo

Playing a wide variety of woodwinds, composer, arranger and lyricist Ada Rovatti teams u with a core of Simon Oslender/p-key, Claus Fischer/b and Tim Dudek/dr along with a surfeit of guests including Randy Brecker/tp-fh and Kurt Elling/voc.

The ideas cover the waterfront, as there are tunes suitable for a Broadway show, with strings and Fay Claassen’s voice on the warm “Hey You” and soft “Take It  Home” with Niki Harris”. Some hip soul jazz takes  place on ”Red August” and smooth sounds with  Brecker cruise during “Naked King” and the Brazilian “Simba’s Samba” featuring some glorious guitar by “Guilherme Monteiro”. Hari does a wonderful duet with Elling on the soulful “Done Deal” with Rovatti’s tenor getting puree’d through a wha-wah on “Pain Killer”. A wide palate of color.
