Brad Turner plays both piano and trumpet as he leads a team with Cory Weeds/ts, Peter Bernstein/g, Nel Swainson/b and Quincy Davis/dr on this album of originals. On piano, Turner gets into a romantic setting with Bernstein on “Virtue Signals” while the two dig a rivulet on “Bernice”. Turner’s trumpet swings hard with Weeds on a rapid swinger of “Barney’s Castle” and gets bluesy on “Slapped My Mind”. His trumpet is sweet on the relaxed “You’re OK” and blue-eyed “Theme For Jocie”, while showing his buccinators on the hard blowing “Rosemary”. Solid set.
