Marta Sierra & Yorgui Loeffler: C-Jam Blues

Peppy pulses in the style of Django Reinhardt’s Hot Club of France are delivered by violinist Marta Sierra along with solo guitarist Yorgui Loeffler, rhythm man Magnio Loeffler and bassist Gousset on this collection of Depression era beauties. Sierra’s strings are reminiscent of Stephane Grappelli, gloriously sighing on “Back H ome In Indiana” and “How High The Moon”, with gypsy solos abounding by Yorgi in the title track and a festive “Swing Gitan”. The two stepping beats are relentless, even taking a trip to Brazil via a caravan on a thrilling read of “Black Orpheus”, with Sierra sighing richly on  “Clair De  Lune”. This one’s a keeper!
