Instead of featuring himself or instrumental soloists, trumpeter/leader Danny Jonokuchi puts together a swinging big band to serve as a supporting cast for ten, count ‘em, ten female vocalists and one gent taking on the standards. Each singer has a special personality and style, raning from the girl next door cute Alexa Barchni on “The One I Love (Belobgs to Somebody Else)” to the Latin sould Sirintip during “So Many Stars”. Alita Moses is reminiscent of Dinah Washington on “What A Difference A Day Makes” and theres a dash of N ancy Wilson on “Born To Be Blue” by Lucy Yeghiazaran”. Tahira Clayton swaggers on “All Of Me” and Charles Turner is in wanderlust for “Blame It On My Youth”. Most soulful is a charming Shenel Johns on a fresh “You Turned The Tables On Me’ and a bold Brianna Thomas on “Summertime”. A full stage, in deed!
