Consisting of Ryan Garmoe/tp-fh-el, Nolan Schroeder/ts-el, Jarrett Purdy/key-synth and Christopher Jensen/dr, the band Wave Cage mixes pulsating electronic grooves with occasional poetry on the melding of bohemia and funk. The spoken poetry by Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainy is surrounded by Brian Eno-ish electronic ambience on “Even You Can See In The Dark” and the spacey “Home Is Here”, with thick electronic pulp framing the message on “Are You Listening”. The instrumentals include some R&Bish horn work by Garmoe and Schroeder on “Break Out” and a mix of deep rivulets and open field running by the horns on the dancing “Chemical Memory”.
