The album is due out in October, but the first single release from Stacey Kent’s USummer Me, Winter Me has a rich swinging bohemian feel. Her voice is a mix of Annie Ross and Blossom Dearie, flexible yet expressive, gliding over the Left Bank pulse provided by Art Hirahara/p, Tom Hubbard/b and Anthony Pinciotti/dr and accompanied by Jim Tomlinson on a rich and woody flute. Few ladies can sound both conversational and melodic, and Kent does it here with the warmth of an early morning baguette.
