Retro vocalist Charlie Faye takes time away from her other group, the Fayettes, to form The Fanimals with Pete Thomas/dr, Scott Davis/b, Adrian Quesada/g, Trevor Nealon/key and a collection of backing vocalists including Bettysoo, Dana Starr Brunberg Sparling, Akina Adderley and Veronica Sue Brunberg Sparling among other cameos. There’s a lot of 50s feel with a Farfisa-led “Snack Time” and the boogie of “Get Down” with lots of pop rock on a pre-Beatles-ish “ Armadillo” and “Octopus Getting Undressed”> Some vaudeville is felt on “Puppy in the path” and a bit of DeLaney and Bonnie rocks on “Me & My Family” with some time for reggae on “Cookie Tree”. What, no Tiki Room tunes?
