With a back porch guitar picking and dusty voice, Michael Jerome Browne brings in a series of guests for an album of sublime socials. The company he keeps is impressive, with Eric Bibb on the 9 string guitar on a relaxed “Shake “em Down” and John Sebastian blowing a warm breeze of a harmonica with vocalist/guitarist Mary Flower on the pick and grinner “ Coffee Blues”. Flower’s lap slide forms drip drops with Browne on “I’ve Got The River Blues and “Married Man Blues?, while Teilhard Frost fiddles around with Browne on the banjo for a rural “Fixin’ To Die Blues{“. Browne goes it alone as he taps into his inner Rev. Gary Davis on “Reverend Strut” and a name out of the past, Happy Tram, is welcome with his guitar on the homespun “Living With The Blues”. Looking good in earth tones.
