Jeff Babko & David Piltch: The Libretto Show

Pianist Jeff Babko goes to the wine country of Paso Robles with bassist David Piltch to break in a newly opened jazz venue, Libretto. The two creates some rich conversations and moods, making some New Orleans blues on “Dorothy” and some dreamy impressions for the Bill Evanish “Quiet Now”. A dash of Pat Metheny wondrousness floats on Babko’s own ‘Blue and Red” while violinist Longa Lee adds to the romance of the lovely and radiant read of Tom Jobim’s “Ligia”. There’s some whimsy on “Brethren From Another Methren” and glowing reflections on “Souvenirs of Hollywood”. Classy forays.
