Playing guitar, mandolin and banjo, Brando Seabrook brings together a loose fitting team of Nava Dunkelman/perc-voc, Marki Hughes/cel, Eivind Opsvik/b, Henry Fraser/b, Chuck Bekkis/el-voc, John McCowen/cl, aiko-recorder and Sam Ospovak/dr-perc for eight originals. There is a surfeit of scary and jarring moods, as on the screaming “Compassion Monkey” fragmented guitar of “Gutbucket Asylum” andrepetitive “Libidinal Bouquets”. Staticc bowe bass gets dark on the tensile “I Wanna Be Chlrophylled II” with harsh percussion non “…Chlorphylled I” and chatic sounds crash and slas throughout, as on the title tune. Yes there are instruments, but what are they doing?
