Michael Bisio & Timothy Hill: Inside Voice/Outside Voice

Michael Bisio’s bass joins with Timothy Hill’s guitar and voice on a surprisingly wide range of moods and colors for two to share. The gents create a musical gallery of sorts, with minimalism on “Bridge” featuring Bisio’s lonely and lovely bass, while John Coltrane’s “Wise One” has Hill’s voice sounding like a Tibetan Monk chant. Instrumentally, the two get frisky on a fun take of Ornette Coleman’s “Law Years” while Bisio bows through Henry Grimes’ outsideish “For Django”. On the other side of town, Hill is intimate and Chet Baker cozy on “I Fall In Love Too Easily” while his guitar on “My One and Only Lo ve” is rich and flavorful. Clever multiples of two.
