Mark Lewis: Sunlight Shines In

Smooth jazz, in the good sense, is delivered by Mark Lewis on the sax and flute with a sublimely swinging team of Ron Kobayahi/p, Baba Elevante/b, Steve Dixon/dr and Nolan Shaheed/tp. Lewis’ flute is a cirrus cloud of sound on the peppy “Square B”while he dances across the Argentine floor on “Mike’s Tango”. Shaheed has his horn hiply muted on the bopping “Leaving Fall Behind” while the leader is cheerful on his alto for “Lunar Escape” and bops till he drops on ”The H Is Silent”. This is a fun one!
