Warm toned guitarist Tomas Janzon teams up with a mix and match of Steve Nelson/vib, Hilliard Greene-Jeff Littleton/b and Chuck McPherson-Tony Austin/dr for eleven originals mixed with covers. Janzon shows his bop chops on a snappy medley of “Scubconscious-Lee/Hot House” while getting nimble for “Ascending”. The team has a cool chime to the driving read of Sonny Rollins’ “Valse Hot” and shows a bluesy side on “Rob’s Piano”. Nelson is an excellent teammate hear, chiming out the current on” Out Door Valley” while joining the leader (on acoustic guitar) for a richly conversant duo on “Letter From JSB”.
