What sets this album apart is Rosenwinkel’s unique tone, which sounds like an electric violin throughout the set, sinewy with the leader’s soprano on the bopping “Dreamers” and giving a Mediterranean feel on the post bopping “Luna Park”. Rosenwinkel astounds on his intro to “Sonic River” before Meinhart takes over for a fluid ride, while the two leads pulsate over Rupping on “Torn”. Would have LOVED to have seen this gig! Rosenwinkel continues to astound, whether as host or guest.
