Muscular modern jazz is served up by drummer Jae Sinnett and his team that includes all stars Steve Wilson/as-ss, Randy Brecker/tp-fh and a hip rhythm section of Allen Farnham/p and Terry Burrell/b. The team digs in hard for some rich soloing by Brecker and Wilson on the upbeat and assertive “Takin’ It There” and the dark “Simone”. Sinnett and Farnham simmer on the bicep flexing “Muhammara’s Dance” and the rivulet on “Wait For Me”. Brecker’s horn glistens on a fragrant “Skylark” and Wilson glows on a deliciously delicate take of “No More Blues”. Impressive impressions.
