Back in the day, this album would have been called “Adult Contemporary” music. In other words, it is accessible jazz, with a dash of pop and soul. Put together by drummer Wolfgang Haffner, the album has mixes and matches with a core of Simon Oslender/p-key, Thomas Stieger/b and Sebastian Studnitzky/tp and various guests including Bill Evans/ss, Till Bronner/fh, Dominic Miller/g, Mitchel Forman/synth and a handful of others. Alma Naidu brings in her ethereal voice to team with Evans on a lovely “Here and Now” as well as with Landrgen on the ballet-like “Rise and Fall”. Bronner’s muted horn is romantic as he serenades on “The Peace Inside” with Miller gently picking on “Faro”. Haffner himself gets funky on the upbeat “Yoyo” and gets moody with Studnitzky for “La Casa”. Lyrical and thoughtful moments abound.
