Johanna Summer: Resonanzen

Pianist Johanna Summer gives solo interpretations of classical pianists ranging from baroque to modern. Her touch is warm, patient and crystalline, and while she doesn’t imitate, there is an homage in each composition. Thus, there is a mathematical aspect to her “Bach”, a romanticism to “Schubert” and pastoral sense to “Grieg”. Her digits get intertwined on the complex “Skrjabin” and reflect a moonlight of sounds for “Beethoven”. There’s a Jarrett-esque feel to her “Tchaikovsky” and modern harmony to “Ligeti”. A contemplative concierto.
