The music and heart of Blossom Dearie is saluted by like minded vocalist Sharon Sable and full stride pianist Joe Holt on this cozy album of songs composed by and associated with the whimsical legend. The mood hear is friendly and conversant, with the two snuggling up to “Little Jazz Bird” and You Fascinate Me So” in duo fashion. Holt adds bass lines on a playful “Down With Love” and the hip “Boum” for Sable to bring to a chanson, while his keyboards bring out the dreamy eyes in Sable foe “I Like You, You’re Nice”. His rich fingers stride well on his feature of “ Surrey With The Fringe On Top” and he supports Sable’s wanderlust on “Inside A Silent Tear”. Blossoms that bloom.
