Don Aliquo plays tenor sax and bass clarinet on a mix and match team of Rod McGaha/tp, Jonathan Wires-Jacob Jezioro/b, Marcus Finnie-Danny Gottlieb/dr and Steve Kovalcheck/g. The team has afeel l ike early Ornette Coleman but with a tad more cohesion as they shuffle on “Salt and Light” and go freebop on “Lower Broadway Rundown”. The horns puff to the bouncy “Nked Statues” and swing easy for “Blues for Duffy and Doug”. Aliquo’s bass clarinet is warm on “Growth” while his tenor drives hard on the deep groove of “Woman Clothed In The Sun”. Loosely knit clothes that fit well.
