Vocalist Paul Marinaro creates relaxed and relaxing jazz moods with various support, ranging form small combos to strings. The team of Tom Vaitsas/key, Mike Allemana/g, John Tate/b, George Fludas/dr, Chris Madsen/ts, Greg Ward/as, Marques Carroll/tp, Raphael Crawford/tb, Rajiv Halim/cl, Jim Gailloreto/fo and the KAIA String Quartet make for warm framework on pieces like “Born To Be Blue” and the bluesy “No One Ever Tells You”. For my money, what works best are the pair of duets wit Allemana, as “I Remember” and the conversant “Remind Me” have an appeal that has Marinaro talking to you as if you’re in the next bar stool. That’s his room.
