Norwegian horn player Deniel Herskedal stays mostly the background on this latest album, serving as a mood setter than soloist. He features the lovely voice of Emilie Nicolas with both lyrics and a wordless presence, and the various guitars of Elvind Aarset and drumming of Helge Norbakken to create a wide range of moods. There are soft Indie moods as on the rumbling “Out Here” and the slightly Middle Eastern “I’ll Sleep Later On” while Herskedal’s brass sounds at times like a whale call on the delicate “While I Look For You”. There’s a dreamy mix of tones and high voices on the ethereal “Found” and American folk guitar strums on “I’ll Sleep Later On”. The leader as a presence and not a dominator.
