Bassist Alex Tremblay leads a post bopping team of Nicholas Biello/as, Taber Gable/key, Tony Davis/g and Evan Hyde/dr through a collection of warm originals. Vocalist Vanish Gould shows up for a warm and lyrical “The Yellow Rose” as well, but for the instrumentals, the team goes from easy moods with Biello on “Moral Dilemma” to elegiac moments between Davis and Gable on “Helen’s Waltz”. The team revs up as Hyde builds up the pace on “Karma” and the team gets into an easy groove on ”Resurgence”. The leader himself is more of an atmospheric guide, making for a contemplative milieu on “Hymn for the Early Departed” and upbeat on the warm “City of Angels”. Post bop pleasantries.
