The team of Erez Dessel-Jacob/p, Seajun Kwon/b, Avery Logan-Charles Weller/dr, Aaron Dutton/ts, Jacob Shulman/ts and Michael Prentky/tb-tub create a series of textures and rhythmic collisions on this album of originals. There is a piano/drum/bass/ “Suite Transient” that focuses on dark atmospheres, but the rest of the album has the horns clashing, crashing and dashing through the bold “Rumination” reed heavy and chaotic “Commune” and the complex and intricate “Micro-Nap”. The songs come off like a musical pin ball game, just bordering on tilting at every push.
