Led by vocalist/keyboardist Andrea Hatanmaa and pianist Yiva Almcrantz along with drummer Liam Amner, bassist Joakim Lissmyr and flugelhornist Ellen Pettersson, the band Dear Sister mixes jazz with pop sensibilities on this mix of indie moods and pastoral settings. Petterson’s soft horn works well with Almcrantz on the dramatic “Intro” and blends with Hatanmaa on the delicate “Collective Heart” while the vocalist is flexible in intonation on the stark “Pretendings” and folksy on the steady streamed “Confusion Of Reality”. A mix of synth and classical team up on “Prelude” and the keys give a steady beat on the mechanical “Leave Me Be”. A mix of bohemia with pop moods.
