Crystal Shawanda belts out the blues with the moon howling on this latest release with her team of Dewayne Strobel/g, Dave Roe/b, Mark Becket-Pete Abbot-Louis Winfield/d, Peter Keys-Jessie O ‘Brien/p-B3, Steve Marriner-Harpdog Brown/harp and guest Sean Jones/tp. This album has a feel not unlike a Tedeschi-Trucks outing, with Shawanda giving off some southern grit with Jones on “How Bad Do You Want It?” and hitting hard on ”Why Do I Love You”. She boogies around the harmonica on the dark “Rumpshaker” and the shuffling “Evil” and while she slithers like a snake on “What Kind Of Man”, she shows that she can also dress up well on the pretty “Walk With The Moon”. Don’t challenger her to an arm wrestling match!
