The duo of vocalist Anne Burnell and singer/keyboardist Mark keeps it fun and funky on this collection of covers and originals. Teamed up with Joshua Ramos/b, Jim Widlowski/dr, Henry Johnson/g and guest Paulinho Garcia/ag, the Burnells split and share the vocals on clever interpretations of pieces like a funky grooved “Love Will Keep Us Together”. Anne is mellow on a “Face” medley, and is conversant for “Let’s Fall In Love”, with her sweet voice warm on the swinging “Baubles Bangles and Beads”. Mark sounds a bit Boz Scaggsy on “Looking For The Gold” and is boy next door-ish on the fun “You Make Me Laugh”. The two duet on a darkly lit “Two For The Road”, while Mark hits the 8 to the bar hard for Anne on a hep cat’d “Little Joe From Chicago”. Simpatico swing.
