Rob Silverman, featuring a ton of drummers: Drumology Volume II

Using his sticks as a vehicle for raising money for the Neil Pert Fun at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, drummer Rob Silverman  puts together another drum master class of music, featuring rockers and proggers including Billy CObham, Maick Mangini and Todd Sucherman with his own core team of Michael Silverman-Jay Oliver/key, Dweezil Zappa/g and J ohn Patitucci/b, just to name a few.

This is not an album for introspection, as Silverman, Mangini and bassit John Myung create a thunderous mix of time signatures on the upbeat and synthy “Victory” while exotic and searing sounds a la the Mahavishnu Orchestra are delivered by Cobham and violinst Jerry  Goodman. The aptly titled “Avalanche” includes the drumming threesome of Silverman, Casey Grillo and John Spinella, and “Drum Dreams” is only missing lightening to make people run for cover in their shelters. The RTF-ish “Journey To The Crystal Planet” as more ricochet shots thaw on tight!!!
