Vintage swing sounds, with material both old and new, is served up by leader/arranger Eyal Vilner, who also plays alto sax, clarinet and flute with a 16 piece team that includes singers Imani Rousselle, Briana Thomas, Brandon Bain and even a tap dancer in Caleb Teicer to boot! The latter is featured on the fun “Tap Tap Tap” while Bain swaggers through “After The Lights Go Down Low”, Rousselle gives a sassy “Just a Lucky So and So” and Thomas has fun with Vilner’s alto sx and Jon Thomas’ Wallerish stride work on the Monkish “Another Time”. Vilner swings his alto on the two stepper “Tain’t What You do” and the team makes like the second coming of Basie on “The Jam”, with hip flutes galore on “Chad’s Delight”. These cats are having fun!
