GUITAR MAN…Jeremy Green: Standing Eight

If  you’re looking for some fresh frets, but still with a pick strumming in the jazz/rock tradition, check out this Canuck Jeremy green. This impressive album of instruments has him teamed up with an all star cast of swinging blues rockers, including (take a deep breath) Robben Ford, Mike Stern, Oz  Noy and Michel Cusson on guitar, and then for bassists, how about Victor Wooten, Will Lee, Jimmy Haslip and Tim LeFebvre to name just a few. And let’s not forget horn men Chase Baird/sax and Mark Levron/tp who add some dry rub Memphis soul to a blues groover like the funky and chunky “Ain’t No Chevy” with Ford or “Ain’t No Chevy” with Wooten laying down a bass line for the ages after Carlock’s hip drum intro.

Green himself teams up with Stern and Haslip on a Beck Bolero’d “Jackets Required” and goes Metallica on the intricate and complex “Mr. Beast” with drummer Keith Carlock on “Mr. Beast”  The guitars get wacka wooka-ing on the soulful “Car Rock” with the only question remaining being “when are they going to come to the Baked Potato”. WHEW! I’m there!
