First- a pet peeve. The title should be “transmit slowLY”. Can’t stand improver adverbs! Thanks-I feel better
Now to the music…
Bassist Alex Lakusta creates a modernized and stripped down version of fusion groups like Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters on these six originals. With Josh Smiley on keyboards and synths, and Keagan Eskritt drumming away, there’s a 70s funky soul sister feel to “Trick Shot”, with relentless electric bass lines digging deep on the moogy “Limited Imitations” and rides along the disco ball on the mellow title piece. Trumpeter Brad Eaton joins in for the rivulet of rhythm on “Battery Brain” and sounds like early fusion Miles on the Silent Way-ish “Flicker”. Wide wale chords?
