Drummer Kabir Dalwari leads a quartet of Kyle Brooks/as, Eric Arroyo/p and Matt Ulery/b through seven post bop originals. Brooks’ alto has a Jackie McLeanish brightness on the lyrical “A Moment In Time” and follows the quick slight of hand changes in tempo well on the urgent “Action Potential”. Dalawari is clever and kinetic while guiding directions on “Woven, Found” and “Awareness” and keeps things calm for Arroyo’s ripples of ivory that gradually build up on “Expedition”, while maintaining composure throughout the languid “Woven, Sought”.
