One of the eternal sounds of jazz is the classic B3 trio with guitar and drums, and Hammondmeister Bill Heid works it well with his respective team of Perry Hughes and Randy Gelispie. Adding to the sizzle is percussionist Kevin Jones for a few tracks, adding percolation to Heid’s Mose Allisony vocals on the bluesy “It’s A Living” and funky preaching “Naughty Little Puppy”. Gelispie digs in deep for Hughes’ tasty Kenny Burrell-inspired pickings on “Cho Soup” and the stop starting “Samba Cat” creates a Brazilian rivulet, while Heid’s Leslie speakers ooze out on “Minor Mood” and shuffle through “Dealin’ Wid It”, filling the room on the nimbus clouds of “ Hurt So Bad”. Rib sticking sounds.
