Trombonist Karl Silveira brings together a warm post bopping team, alternating saxists David French/ts and Allison Au/as with his core unit of Chris Pruden/p, Dan Fortin/b and Nico Dann/dr. With the tenor saxist French, Silvera’s brass gets blue on the title tune, and relaxes on the easy swing of “Shimmy” while the rhythm team creates a gorgeous “Poiniana” pulse for “A Serretinha Em Julho”. Pruden brings classical tones to “Hunch” and Au brings elliptical harmonies over the cadence of “Perimeter”. Fortin leads the way on the gentle “Far” and digs a rivulet on the bopping “Rye and Lilacs” Gentle journeys.
