Stylish and energetically poppish mixes of soul and reggae are delivered by Jose Conde, who’s almost a one man band, playing guitar, moog bass, organ, and drum programming for starters alongside a mx & match team including Geminelle/voc, Armando Lopez/dr, Majela Herrera-Armando Lopez/fl, Steve Gluzband/tp, Nichael Buckley/as and Scott Kettner/dr. Geminelle is luscious around Conde’s electric guitar work on “the reggae-ish “Poetry in Motion” with Cuci Amador in a funky feel alongside a 70s wacka wooka to the funky “Dal Pa ‘Ya”, with Conde himself belting it out bel canto style on an East LA calypso of “Las Bori Bori”. A rhapsody of fragrant voices join together on “Sound is Sonido” and lovely nylon strings float over synthy percussion on the title tune. If you’re not dancing yet, there’s even some 80s punkish feel with Conde delivering a rivulet of a pulse on “Monocultura”. You might think you’re at a wedding for the salsa meets Nintendo beat of “Grito Ambiental” while the high hat hits hard with some Miles Davis-ish trumpet work on “Nude Poetry”. Music made for a tailgate fest!
