Pianist Anthony Coleman joins together with drummer Brian Chase for five spontaneously combusting improvised compositions. Lurking piano keys and rumbling drums scatter and pitter patter on the title tune, ivories and sticks pound in aggression during “Divagations”, the two plod and play peek-a-boo on “Crepuscle” and there’s a three legged herky jerkyrace to “Momentary Come On”. The album closes with a splashing cacophony of “With Cunning”. What is it? I know what it’s not.
