****RINGER OF THE WEEK****IF ONLY ALL MUSIC COULD BE THIS GOOD….Danilo Brito and Joao Luiz: Esquina de Sao Paulo

First, you have to love the joys of Brazilian music to get hooked on this album by mandolinist Danilo Brito and guitarist Joao Luiz. That’s an easy task, right? Next, you have to just sit down, SIT DOWN, and take it in as if you were nursing your iced coffee in the afternoon. That’s better…

Close your eyes, and take in the fragrant conversations of these stringed friends. The ¾ lilt on “Feie” is a playful romp, while cheerful chimes abound on “Gargalhada” and the dancing “Perigoso”. There’s a fado feel on the bluesy “Benzinho” and a stomping tango for “Despertar da Mantanha”. Lacelike drapery floats on the lovely “Primas e Bordoes” and the two get gloriously agonizing for “Chovia”. Every mood is covered here-what do you expect from a pair of South Americans?!? Grab it an imbibe appreciatively.
