Popa Chubby: Emotional Gangster

With a guitar sound like Johnny Winters, and a voice like Wolfman Jack, Popa Chubby gets down and dirty with the blues on this mix of classics and newbies. He raps out a growling lyric to “Equal Opportunity” while cruising to the local road house for “Why You Wanna Make War”. Does he gargle with razorblades? He’s done something as he ominously wails on the slow and simmering boogie of “I’m Th Dog” while riding the staccato beat like a long boarder on “Doing OK”. Jason Ricci brings his hurricane of a harp for deep blowing on the bluesrocker “New Way Of Walking” and the swinging “Save the Best For Last” with the closing “I’ll Fly Away” a deep and dark moonless night of sounds.

For an added bonus, Harmonica Wizard Jason Ricci joins Popa on the Blues Rock anthem “New Way of Walking” and the swing shuffle “Save the Best for Last”. If you see him in concert, check your hub caps before you drive away.
