Leader Idit Sner brings her alto sax and bass clarinet to create exciting and exotic moods with her vibrant team of John Mambira/perc-voc, Torrey Newhart/p-key-voc, Garrett/b, Ken Mastrogiovanni/dr and guest Ratie D/perc-voc. Ratie D bookends the album with her appearances with the choir-like vocals on the Afro Cuban “Bosidian Horses” and her kalimba adding fragrant themes to Wayne Shorter’s “Fingerprints”, complete with vocal chant. Shner’s bass clarinet is earthy on the rumbling “Mhondoro” with her alto teaming well with Newhart’s keys on the tropical “Step By Step”. The rhythm team gallops under the leader on “Heat Wave” while allowing rich spaces around Baxter on the red earthed “Usavabvumire”. Rain forest delights.
